When you're on an airboat skimming across lily pads and marshy grasses in Florida, all you really want to see are gators. Sure, the wind flapping your jowls provides a thrill. And the access to shallow slips around Brahma Island is unprecedented.
But an airboat captain like Ben only throttles down his giant fan for one reason: When he spots those two eyes and snout breaking the surface of the water.
"There he is," he shouted, pointing his finger. "You see where those reeds are wiggling. If we was hunting him, we'd throw the harpoon right where you see the wiggle and hope for the best."
We saw six or so gators on the trip.
