As seen at Gip's Place, Bessemer's little BYOB juke joint.
This gentleman and I and about 150 other good folks were enjoying the blues from the Cosmic Snakehandlers.
Despite an onslaught of local media coverage (The Black & White two years ago, Birmingham News, B-Metro, Alabama Public Radio, ...even the Tannehill Trader ), I contend Gip's is still the most authentic experience going in the Birmingham metro.
We saw Gip on the way out and told him we'd probably be back next Saturday to hear Cedric Burnside.
He stepped back, flashed a big grin, and said, "Burnside!"
That's the word.
