WFAE's Lisa Miller and I were in Cornelius, NC this week covering town hall meetings that discussed a proposed $450 million commuter line that would run from Charlotte to 25 miles north. Here's a our "Planet Money style" take on those meetings.
In one of the meetings Randall O'Toole, a man who has built much of his career around being against rail lines and public/private projects, made a presentation. He is a definite character. I caught up with him afterwards to interview him. At the end of our interview, I asked him about his unique tie and his lapel pin.
He referenced Col. Sanders and actually got emotional, as witnessed in the above audio slideshow.
